Senior Project Manager
Pay Range: $110,000 - $125,000 annually, based on experienceLocation: Lanco Integrated – Westbrook, Maine
Lanco Integrated is a specialty automation manufacturer based in Westbrook, Maine. We design and build custom assembly automation systems, from single-station semi-automated cells to fully integrated multi-line robotic assembly solutions, for manufacturers across medical, defense, consumer, and industrial markets.
With approximately 120 employees, we operate with the technical depth of a large engineering firm and the responsiveness of a smaller organization where individual contributions are visible and valued.
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll lead our largest and most complex automation projects, the ones with significant technical, schedule, and financial stakes. You’ll own each project from purchase order through Site Acceptance Test (SAT): the schedule, the scope, the financial forecast, and the customer relationship.
This is a senior individual contributor role. You’ll work with a high degree of independence, help shape how our PM team works, and mentor the Project Managers coming up behind you. You’ll bring the technical depth to understand both the customer’s product and Lanco’s assembly and test solution, and the commercial judgment to protect margin while delivering real value to the customer.
What You’ll Do
Project Leadership & Execution- Lead large, complex, multi-disciplinary automation projects from PO through SAT with minimal oversight.
- Drive project teams to meet or exceed scope, quality, schedule, and budget requirements, in line with Lanco’s quality, safety, and ISO standards.
- Own the project schedule, identify high-cost and long-lead items early, and partner with Purchasing and Finance to hold timelines and budgets.
- Work with Operations and department managers to resolve resource conflicts and schedule deviations, and lead recovery when delays appear.
- Lead customer kickoffs, design reviews, and weekly status meetings, and coordinate pre-FAT runs, customer visits, and acceptance runs (FAT and SAT) at Lanco and at customer sites.
Financial Ownership
- Own end-to-end project financial forecasting, including cost-to-complete, margin, and cash flow, with only spot-check review by management.
- Ensure correct application of the revenue recognition model and keep billing milestones aligned with project performance.
- Evaluate the financial impact of scope changes and risks, review overruns for root cause, and keep leadership informed.
Customer & Commercial Leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers, including the challenging conversations about scope, schedule, and cost.
- Review contract documents (quote, customer specifications, prints), confirm scope with the customer, and keep customer-supplied documentation current.
- Propose, negotiate, and sell change orders that protect project margin and customer value.
- Proactively identify and mitigate complex technical and commercial risks.
Mentorship & Continuous Improvement
- Mentor and coach Project Manager I and II team members on project execution, financials, and customer communication.
- Support onboarding of new PMs and share best practices and lessons learned across the team.
- Partner with the Manager of Project Management on improvements to PM processes, tools, and best practices.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automation project management.
- Demonstrated success leading large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects with significant financial impact.
- Proven ability to own project financial forecasts (cost-to-complete, margin, cash flow) with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience negotiating change orders and managing commercial risk directly with customers.
- Formal PMI training completed; PMP certification encouraged.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%), with more frequent onsite presence for higher-risk customer engagements.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, work on your feet, and wear required PPE in manufacturing areas.
You’ll Thrive Here If You
- Have a strong leadership presence and can influence without formal authority.
- Stay calm and composed in high-pressure, high-visibility situations.
- Think strategically and anticipate the downstream impact of decisions.
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams alike.
- Communicate clearly in writing and in person, including delivering difficult news tactfully.
- Enjoy developing others and lead by example in professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
